Understanding Window & Door Hurricane Product Approvals: DETAILS!
These aren't just for the installers, the architect and builder and most importantly the client needs to understand what they are getting.
Windows and doors aren't just a budget line item like the concrete shell, they are an important aesthetic choice where details matter that the client is going to interact with every day they live in the home.
- How wide are your tracks/head/jambs? Wider than your beams and columns?
- How tall is the sill riser? How many options depending on pressures?
- How deep should your recess be? You don't want an ugly trip hazard above your flooring.
- Are there different frame options? (high and low bottom rail shown here)
- What do the glass stops look like? Traditional Ogee or squared off? (some have other options not shown but have to be specified or you get the default)
- How many tracks/panels are possible? If you want 5, they may only be able to do 4, or even only 3!
- Are the anchors going to be visible in the tracks or jambs?
These are just a few questions to ask. Windows and doors aren't just a budget line item like the concrete shell, they are an important aesthetic choice where details matter that the client is going to interact with every day they live in the home.
