Case Study #3
Complex Construction Coordination
This very complex residence needed very precise coordination of the structural beams on the main house and steel beams at the pavilion and pocket wall.
10’ tall sliding doors wrapped around the entire rear of the residence with wood ceilings interior and exterior. Sliding doors had to align with the beams at the pavilion and the clerestory windows above wrapped around.
I was on site weekly to ensure that the General Contractor executed according to the design intent.
Structural drawings indicating bottom of concrete beams were as much as 6” off where they needed to be at the head of the doors. I also engineered a custom support at the pocket beam for overhead support.
