Pivot Door Drainage

Understanding Hurricane Product Approvals - Pivot Door Drainage. Everything is in the details, what do you see when you look at these two different sections? The door bottom rail on the left uses face mounted weather sweeps on the inside and outside and the door on the right uses an automatic drop sweep.

- The rail on the left is 3.5" tall and the rail on the right is 5.25" tall
- The door on the right has a full length slot drain system that goes up to top of finished floor and is visible inside when the door is closed.
- The drain on the left has a small U-channel below finished floor, needing a gap left in the tile and it is not visible when the door is closed.
- Elsewhere in the product approval it indicates the door on the right only meets water outside of the HVHZ while the door on the left "technically" meets water in the HVHZ, the manufacturer still recommends an overhang.
- Both doors have multipoint actuators to lock down the back stile of the door in addition to the lock stile.

There is a lot more information in the product approval on how each product was tested and certified from overall sizes and design pressures to the types of locking mechanisms used.
