Is This the Best Design for the View?

Sometimes an architectural design calls for French Doors but is it really the best choice for the occupants? This could have been a 4-panel slider, what do you think?

From my standpoint as an architectural consultant, this is a transitional design not a true "traditional" and if you are going for floor to ceiling glass on the rear elevation living areas with a nice view, I am always going to recommend redesigning for maximum glass.

A 4-panel sliding door with 1" or 2" interlocks would have had three verticals for 3"-6" of frame obstruction. Or even larger 3-panels with only 2 vertical interlocks.
