Huricane Product Approvals
If your window manufacturer says they are hurricane resistant but does NOT have a registered Florida Product Approval (FPA) or Miami-Dade NOA, NO NOT TRUST THEM! This is the only trusted and certified process for independent laboratory testing for hurricane rated windows and doors.
TAS 201, 202, 203 International Building Code Standards for Impact, Static, and Cyclic Wind Pressure testing is the highest standard. There are multiple ASTM standards for hurricane testing but they are all lower or much lower than the TAS testing protocols.
Anyone can check on the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation website under Product Manufacturer to see if they have a listing and what was tested for at https://www.floridabuilding.org/pr/pr_app_srch.aspx
