Exterior Sill to Floor Trasitions

I get asked how to plan perfect exterior sliding door sill to flooring transitions a lot and it takes careful planning and a lot of extra work. Click through to CAD details. You must know your interior and exterior flooring thickness and laser leveled install for perfect door installation height and size.

The interior slab and floor level determines exactly where the top of the door and window sills must set. The door recess must consider the interior floor level, the door sill height and exterior floor thickness to pour back up under the sill the exact width of the track.

That sill pour width will vary depending on frames - windows, 2-track, 3-track, hinge door etc. will vary in every opening.

If you have hinged doors and windows and doors in the same area elevation transitioning to exterior flooring, they all have different heights. You will probably need to use brake metal on the exterior for the shorter frames.
