When should you use a TRUE WOOD or FAUX WOOD ALUMINUM hurricane rated entry door?

True wood doors have an unmatched richness and warmth but are vulnerable to environmental factors. Especially in hot humid tropical environments you may experience significant expansion and contraction between the wet and dry seasons.

Harsh sun exposure in South Florida will break down finishes more quickly and sometimes unevenly if only the lower part of the door gets more sun than the upper part.

Wood doors can be refinished and that cycle could be 2 years or 10 years depending on the original finish quality and exposure. This could be several thousand dollars every time.

Faux wood aluminum doors won't swell and shrink but when you are up close, they are usually pretty obviously not real wood. And if they get severe sun exposure, that simulated wood finish is going to eventually fade and it cannot be refinished.
